Masai Sideboard Porada

Masai is a sideboard you notice from across the room. Maurizio Marconato and Terry Zappa designed it for Porada in solid canaletta walnut, and carved a pattern of waves into the sides and the doors. The wood catches the light differently along each groove, so the front changes as you walk past.

The layout is simple. Two compartments with doors on the sides hold plates, glasses or files; three drawers in the centre take cutlery, napkins and the things you want close at hand. The top is wide and long, made to display a few objects you care about: a lamp, a collection of ceramics, books.

A metal base in Grey Pewter lifts the walnut off the floor and keeps the piece light, despite its size.

Masai works in a dining room, along the wall of a large living room, in an entrance hall or in an executive office. Next to a Porada table in walnut it completes the room; next to lighter furniture it becomes the focal point.
