Vincenzo De Cotiis treats the sofa as sculpture. With Tactile he took it apart into its essential pieces and set them back together as independent blocks. Seat and back touch only where stability needs them to.
The upholstery is not one hide stretched over foam. It is made of leather bands sewn side by side, each filled with acrylic fibre, and quilted in two different patterns on seat and back. That is where the name comes from: run a hand across it and you feel every band.
A black-painted fir base sits underneath, almost out of sight. At only 62 cm high, Tactile works best in the middle of a room, where you can walk around it like a gallery piece. Three sofa lengths and two armchairs, soft leathers only.
